About Us

We have put this site together to try to allay the fears of prospective Home-Educators. My wife and I currently Home Educate 2 teenage boys (13 and 15). Two years ago (Easter 2000), we took the decision to to withdraw our eldest son from High School at the age of 12. He was suffering from school phobia. Then last Easter we withdrew the second eldest due to what we perceived as the school system failing him. We wish wholeheartedly that we had taken the decision to de-register them much earlier.

Our method of home education is predominately autonomous, although we do tend to fall back on the textbooks when interest and motivation appear to be waning too much. We tend also to follow school terms because our two youngest children still go to school (at the moment), we do not however stick rigidly to school hours.
